Supplier Disputes
When a Chinese supplier has your money but performance has broken down.
The early questions are evidence, supplier identity, asset location, jurisdiction and which remedy can create leverage quickly.
Typical disputes
- Deposit paid but goods never delivered
- Quality materially differs from specification
- Supplier refuses refund after cancellation
- Unauthorized changes in materials or subcontractors
- Supplier stops responding after receiving payment
What to send first
Usually: signed contract, purchase order, invoices, payment proof, supplier business name, key messages, inspection or quality records, shipment documents and a short timeline.
Possible strategy
Depending on the facts, the sequence may involve a counterparty check, evidence preservation, formal demand, settlement negotiations, asset preservation, litigation and enforcement.
State the commercial objective at the outset: obtain delivery, recover money, secure replacement performance, preserve assets or negotiate an exit.
